MANTA
Microfossil Analyses: New Technologies and Applications
MANTA is an automated micropaleontology platform, dedicated to the characterization and recognition of environmental and stratigraphic indicators in sediments and the subsurface.
Bioindication & biomonitoring
Automated screening of microfossil and microfaunal communities as indicators of environmental and anthropogenic changes
Biostratigraphy & morphometrics
High-throughput identification of key index taxa, for calcareous, siliceous and organic microfossils
Microparticle sorting
Targeted isolation of rare or fragile particles from complex matrices for downstream imaging and analysis
Paleoenvironments & paleoclimates
Quantitative reconstruction of past ocean conditions from microfossil assemblages and morphometrics
Our main applications include:
- the study of paleoenvironments and paleoclimates
- biostratigraphy for subsurface exploration
- bioindication and biomonitoring of environments
- sorting of microparticles
The platform is integrated into the Climate team at CEREGE.
This platform is the result of developments at CEREGE carried out within projects primarily funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), the A*MIDEX foundation, and projects conducted in collaboration with industrial partners (Total, Zorth & ATG Technologies).
